The Boston University Department of Biology invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Cell & Molecular Neurobiology starting in Fall 2023. We seek a candidate who either works in the broad area of basic cellular mechanisms of nervous system function or investigates translational mechanisms of neurological and psychological disorders. We encourage candidates to apply who use cutting edge technologies to understand the underlying mechanisms at the cellular, molecular, neurocircuit and/or whole brain levels. Candidates may use invertebrate or vertebrate animal models, non-model species, or human neurons/brain tissues. This position will synergize with recent growth in faculty with expertise in systems-level analyses of the nervous system and neurological disease models.  Responsibilities include growing a vibrant research program with extramural funding, teaching at the graduate and/or undergraduate levels, and participating in graduate training. The successful candidate will join a strong and growing interdisciplinary Neuroscience research community at Boston University that also benefits from close affiliations with the Center for Systems Neuroscience  and engineering initiatives including the Neurophotonics Center  and synthetic and systems biology.
