Position Highlights

The University of Arizona Cancer Center (UACC) is a National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center at the forefront for expanded, high impact precision cancer medicine. UACC has strengths in basic mechanisms of carcinogenesis, tumor microenvironment, disparities, and cancer prevention. UACC is supported by a broad array of research activities including Data Science, Human Immune Monitoring, Cancer Imaging, Genomics, Metabolomics, Behavioral Measurements and Interventions as well as our comprehensive biorepository which provides biospecimen collection, processing, and storage coupled with clinical and risk factor data collection for a variety of cancers. Clinical research teams at UACC provide patient care, and these teams facilitate bench to bedside translational research. Duties & Responsibilities
  • Establish a strong research program with extramural funding.
  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses, and contribute to mentoring students, including those from traditionally underrepresented backgrounds.
  • Participate in outreach, partner with colleagues across departments and colleges, and nurture an environment of collaboration.
  • Develop innovative approaches to enhancing student engagement, increasing diversity, and expanding collaborations with community and business partners.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Doctorate in Biomedical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering, or Molecular/Cellular Biology, Cancer Biology/Oncology, Pharmacology, Physiology, Immunology, Medicine, or Chemistry/Biochemistry disciplines, with an Engineering focus including Tissue Engineering, Biomaterials, Sensors, and/or Devices 
  • No additional experience beyond the PhD is required for appointment at the Assistant Rank.
