McGovern Medical School  at UTHealth Houston , a leading academic health center, invites applications for a full-time (1.0 FTE), non-tenure clinical track Assistant/Associate Professor position in the UT Health Houston Children's Heart Institute , Division of Pediatric Cardiology, Non-Invasive Imaging team.
  

The Pediatric Cardiology Team is diverse and internationally recognized for providing patients with the best standard of pediatric cardiac care for children and adults with congenital heart defects. We have 22 cardiologists, including non-invasive imaging (fetal and cardiac MR/CT), interventional cardiologists, electrophysiologists, HF/transplant, preventive cardiology, and community cardiologists. There are 4 congenital heart surgeons with a 20-bed dedicated cardiac ICU, 20 intermediate care beds, and a 120-bed NICU. Children's Memorial Hermann Hospital is ranked in the top 30 pediatric cardiology and cardiac surgery programs in the 2022-2023 US News & World Report. We have 9 categorial pediatric cardiology and 2 advanced imaging 4th-year fellows (fetal and CT/MRI). 

Board-certified and/or eligible candidates in pediatric cardiology should have advanced training in transesophageal echocardiography and cMRI/CT (4th year trained). The candidate will be part of the team performing transesophageal echocardiogram in the OR/Cath lab, reading transthoracic echocardiogram, cMR/CT service and inpatient/outpatient service. The selected candidates will contribute to the department's mission to educate health science professionals, discover, and translate advances in the biomedical and social sciences, and model the best practices in clinical care and public health through research, teaching, clinical service, administrative activities, and other services. 


Position Key Accountabilities: 


The Assistant/Associate Professor/Professor faculty position in the Division of Pediatric Cardiology will contribute to all aspects of the UTHealth Houston Children's Heart Institute.  The selected candidate will provide direct patient care and support the educational mission through teaching and supervising our medical students, residents, and fellows in the clinic and hospital setting.  


Responsibilities: 

  • Diagnostic imaging for patients with the best standard of pediatric cardiac care for children and adults with congenital heart defects.  
  • Serving as a role model in professional behavior and leadership skills, problem-solving ability, and interpersonal skills.
  • Participating in ongoing departmental Quality Improvement planning and processes consistent with the organizational Quality Management Plan.
  • Participating in and/or chairing committees, work groups, and meetings as appropriate.
  • Maintaining professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, in-services, current literature, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of the latest trends in fields of expertise, supporting and promoting education and research. 
  • Actively participating as a member of the teaching staff for the division's fellowship programs. 

Qualifications: 

  • Texas Medical License or be eligible for a Texas Faculty Temporary License. 
  • Board-certified and/or eligible candidates in Pediatrics and Pediatric Cardiology with advanced training and expertise in performing and interpreting echocardiography and/or advanced cardiac imaging. 
  • Subspecialty training in cMRI/CT.
