DARE centers its research, teaching and outreach activities in defined areas of excellence: the economics of food systems, including agribusiness management and finance, entrepreneurship, crop and livestock production, industrial organization, consumer behavior, food labeling and food policy; the economics of water, land and environment; and agricultural education. Position Summary
This tenure track Assistant Professor position is a full-time (9-month) appointment.
The successful candidate will:
  • Develop a nationally recognized, externally funded research program in one or more fields within agricultural and food economics and/or agribusiness management and entrepreneurship.
  • Publish in highly ranked peer-reviewed journals appropriate to the individual’s research focus
  • Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses. Topics are negotiable based on departmental needs and personal interests
  • Mentor undergraduate and graduate students (MS and PhD)
  • Engage in service/outreach commensurate with interest, experience, and departmental needs.

Required Job Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in agricultural economics, economics, or related field completed prior to start date
  • Specialization and/or strong interest in developing research and teaching programs in agricultural and food economics and/or agribusiness management and entrepreneurship
Preferred Job Qualifications
  • Demonstrated ability, commensurate with professional experience, to generate research publishable in highly ranked journals in economics and/or agricultural economics.
  • Demonstrated ability and/or interest in engaging in research and outreach/engagement activities relevant to Colorado State University and its land grant mission, in collaboration with faculty in the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics, and/or relevant to Colorado stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability and/or interest, commensurate with professional experience, in mentoring students and teaching courses in agricultural and food economics and/or agribusiness management and entrepreneurship at the undergraduate and graduate level.
  • Demonstrated ability and/or commitment to pursue contract and grant funding, including support for graduate students.
  • Commitment to diversity and inclusion through research, teaching, and outreach with relevant programs, goals, and activities.
