POSITION: Assistant Professor. This is a nine-month tenure-track position in the Department of Educational Foundations, Leadership, and Technology beginning August 2024. This faculty member will be hired to support the Administration of Higher Education program, which offers MEd and PhD degrees designed to prepare academics, researchers, practitioners, and leaders in colleges and universities. The Department of Educational Foundations, Leadership, and Technology is housed in the College of Education. The department offers a range of master’s, specialist, and doctoral degrees in higher education administration, educational psychology, educational leadership, and adult education.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Ø Engage in rigorous research resulting in scholarly publications, preferably peer-reviewed journal articles in prestigious outlets
Ø Teach master’s and doctoral level courses in support of the Administration of Higher Education program
Ø Advise and mentor graduate students
Ø Direct student research including projects, theses, and dissertations
Ø Participate in the planning and implementation of curricular changes for the program and department
Ø Provide institutional service as assigned by the department head and engage in professional service within the discipline
Ø Participate in professional activities as needed to ensure the well-being of the program, department, and college
Ø Secure extramural research funding as appropriate to disciplinary focus
Minimum Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Earned doctorate in Administration of Higher Education or related discipline at the time of employment.
  • Experience or demonstrated potential to teach graduate courses within the program’s degree offerings.
  • Record of research in one or more of the following areas:
  • Higher education organization and administration
  • Student success
  • Student affairs or the study of students
  • Teaching and learning in higher education settings
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills
  • Scholarly publications in peer-reviewed journals
  • Commitment to the values and priorities of the College of Education (https://education.auburn.edu/college-of-education-strategic-plan/ ; https://education.auburn.edu/about-the-college/vision-mission-and-core-values/ )
  • Evidence of extramural support or of potential to be successful in securing extramural support
Desired Qualifications
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Record of teaching courses such as institutional research, leadership theory and organizational theory in higher education, higher education law, and policy in higher education 
  • Record of advising, engaging, and mentoring masters and PhD students
  • Record of collaboration across the department, university, and/or the field of higher education
  • Professional experience in the field of higher education
  • Expertise in research methods including qualitative, quantitative, or mixed method approaches.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage in Administration of Higher Education program design activities (e.g., curriculum redesign, course design, administrative tasks).
