Position Summary:

The Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy is a full-time (9 month) tenure-eligible faculty position. Candidates must have an earned degree in physical therapy from a CAPTE accredited program and an earned doctoral degree. Candidates must hold an active unrestricted license as a physical therapist in an appropriate US jurisdiction and be eligible for an Arkansas physical therapy license
Candidates with an earned Ph.D., Ed.D., or academic equivalent are preferred. Candidates with a DPT degree and extensive practice experience or specialist certification will also be considered. Preferred candidates will have a well-defined general practice background, interest in a specified research area, and demonstrate sensitivity to diversity. Teaching experience in the basic sciences, therapeutic exercise, and neurorehabilitation is desired


Duties & Responsibilities:

Physical therapy faculty primary responsibilities include teaching assigned courses, maintaining an active and productive research agenda, student advising, attending academic events, interacting collegially with the A-State community, ensuring CAPTE accreditation standards are met, continuing professional development, as well as serving the university, community, and profession, and other duties as assigned


Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Demonstrated ability in teaching; ability to establish and implement a scholarly agenda; willingness to serve collegially within the university, community, and profession


General Days/Hours:

Monday - Friday
8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Additional hours as requested and/or needed
Academic events, such as graduation, occur on occasional Saturdays
Regular and reliable attendance on campus

Opportunities exists to take leadership role in the adult neurorehabilitation, geriatrics (healthy ager program), therapeutic exercise, and basic science components of the curriculum


Minimum Qualifications:

A physical therapist licensed in the United States and eligible for physical therapy licensure in Arkansas. Physical therapist candidates with academic doctoral degrees (Ph.D., Ed.D., or equivalent) or an earned Doctoral Degree in Physical Therapy with extensive practice experience or a specialty certification
