Position Summary:

The Department of Psychology and Counseling at Arkansas State University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Psychology, with expertise in Bio- or Physio-Psychology or Neuroscience (specific specialty area open). Position to begin August 2024


Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Primary teaching responsibilities will include classes such as Physiological Psychology or Neuroscience
  • Depending on the background and interest of the candidate, other courses within our curriculum will be available
  • We welcome the development of new classes in your specific specialty area
  • Faculty have the opportunity to work with and mentor students as part of their research labs
  • Other duties as assigned


Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

We are interested in individuals from a wide range of academic backgrounds, including (but not limited to) biopsychology, physiological psychology, neuroscience, behavioral genetics, and behavioral neuroscience
Approximately 10 faculty are in the core undergraduate BS Psychology degree program, and there are many opportunities for collaborations within the program with faculty who have a wide range of specializations. The department also houses counseling and school psychology programs and cross program collaboration often take place
Finally, there are multiple opportunities to engage with colleagues across the university, including those from the College of Science and Mathematics, Arkansas Bioscience Institute, and the NYIT College of Osteopathic Medicine at Arkansas State


General Days/Hours:

Monday - Friday
8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Additional hours as requested and/or needed
Regular and reliable attendance
