SUMMARY:

Assistant Professional Track of Bilingual/ESL Education--Qualified candidates must have a Master’s in Education, Bilingual Education, ESL Education, Curriculum & Instruction or a related field. The position will begin in the Spring 2022 semester, and will include teaching, advising and additional duties primarily at Greenville, but may also include responsibilities online and/or at other locations. Candidates must demonstrate the potential to support student teachers and lead teacher professional development.

**First Date of Consideration is November 16, 2021.**

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • advising and teaching undergraduate students;
  • team teaching field-based courses;
  • serving as a liaison to observe, mentor, and supervise students in field-based settings;
  • working collaboratively with faculty and staff to implement departmental programs and Student Learning Outcome Assessments;
  • working with public school partners and community colleges on collaborative projects and mutual goals;
  • Professional development trainings and meetings to contribute to the evaluation process for student teachers
  • commitment to learning and stay current with research, best practices in teaching, technology applications in the classroom, and online teaching.
  • Instructional support for student teachers
  • providing service to the  department, college, university and public schools, and community; and
  • continuous learning to stay current with research, best practices in teaching, technological applications in the classroom, and online teaching.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education: Earned Master’s in Education, Curriculum & Instruction, Bilingual Education (Spanish), ESL (Spanish) Education or a related discipline with 18 Masters level hours in ESL Education or Bilingual Education.
  • Experience / Knowledge / Skills: A minimum of 5-7 years’ experience in Bilingual (Spanish) or ESL(Spanish).   
  • Licensing/Professional Certification: Current Texas K-6 Teacher Certification
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a team of professionals.
  • Dispositions for technology use and collaborative, school-based initiatives
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a team of professionals.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE :

Texas K-6 Generalist Teacher Certification with Bilingual or ESL Certification. University level teaching experience in teacher education; field-based teacher education programs; familiarity with edTPA; prior experience teaching bilingual, early childhood, or reading courses in higher education, and online teaching. Experience conducting mentor trainings and partnership meetings to discuss, interpret and analyze student teacher performance goals based on data/surveys.
