Position Details
Primarily reporting to the head coach of lacrosse, the assistant/associate women’s lacrosse coach will assist the head coach in all phases of the program. Responsibilities include coaching and teaching (75% of expected effort) and administrative duties (25% of expected effort).
Coaching Responsibilities:
Assist with and provide on field instruction during practices and games. Provide video analysis for game and practice sessions.
Teaching Responsibilities:
As a teaching fellow, assist physical education faculty members with classroom interaction. Assist with out of class project work required for PE credit.
Recruiting Responsibilities:
Assist with both on campus and off campus recruiting efforts. Coordinate campus recruiting visits for prospective student-athletes.
Administrative Responsibilities:
Provide academic support and monitor academic progress for student-athletes. Provide additional support for contest management as needed.
Additional responsibilities for the associate coach position include:
Coaching Responsibilities:
Participate in the planning, organizing and execution of practices and contests.
Evaluate the athlete’s performance and progress to ensure peak performance during practices and contests.
Oversee the mental and physical preparation of athletes for contests.
Assist in the development of conditioning programs.
Assist with scouts and evaluating opponents’ performance and recommend game strategy based on the evaluation.
Manage Individual Development Plans for each player on the team.
Responsible for cultivating relationships with every player on the team to create trust, transparency and legitimacy to better assist players in all aspects of being a student-athlete.
Recruiting Responsibilities:
Organize all academic materials from recruits as well as coordinate and manage recruits within FrontRush database.
Assist in booking flights, housing, & transportation for showcases/tournaments.
Oversee the recruitment of student-athletes; evaluate prospective students’ academic and athletic abilities.
Manage the recruiting schedule and coordinate communication between prospective athletes and coaching staff.
Attend permissible off campus recruiting events. Attend showcases for evaluation and work clinics/ID camps for evaluation.
Administrative Responsibilities:
Participate in planning for alumni events including fundraising and or special functions.
Plan and execute team community service efforts.
Coordinate team travel for in/out of region trips.
Collect and manage student schedules to coordinate individual, group and team meetings.
Manage and create content for all social media platforms.
Work with representatives from various apparel outlets to manage and order team gear. Coordinate with the DEI (Diversity, Equity & Inclusion) Committee and athletic department to facilitate trainings and materials to be distributed to the team.
Lead one of our Leadership Council committees (DEI, Mental Health/Well Being, or Community Service)
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and 1 year of playing and/or coaching experience at the college level (assistant)/ at least 2 years of coaching experience at the college level (associate) or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Ability to work in a diverse community.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
For the associate level, candidates must also have:
Demonstrated ability to provide effective leadership to student-athletes to encourage both successful academic development and competitive performance.
Proficiency with recruiting software systems and Microsoft Office products.
Demonstrated ability to manage concerns and issues in various team settings.
Preferred Qualifications
NCAA division III and NESCAC playing and or coaching experience.
For the associate level, knowledge of NESCAC recruiting rules is also preferred.
