Position Description

The Department of Radiology in the School of Medicine at the University of Washington in Seattle is seeking applications for one full-time (100% FTE) faculty position at the level of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor without tenure (WOT) by reason of funding, commensurate with experience, to join faculty members in the Nuclear Medicine section with an anticipated start date of August 1, 2024. Assistant Professors WOT are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Associate Professors WOT and full Professors WOT hold indefinite appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.

In addition to clinical activities, responsibilities will include instruction of medical students, diagnostic radiology residents, nuclear medicine residents, and molecular imaging/nuclear medicine fellows with dedicated academic time and mentoring provided. Productivity in research and other academic pursuits is mandatory for promotion.

The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate excellence while participating in our clinical activities. Responsibilities include the performance of Nuclear Medicine imaging and therapy, PET/CT, DXA, CT, and MRI. Participation in multidisciplinary conferences is required and offer an opportunity to develop academic collaborations and build a reputation with our colleagues. Teaching and mentoring of medical students, residents and fellows is also a large part of the Section's mission. Participation in departmental outreach as appropriate is expected. The base salary range for this position will be: $30,272 - $33,316 per month ($363,264 - $399,792 annually) commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization. This position is incentive eligible through the physicians practice plan.

The Nuclear Medicine Division at UW Academic Medical Centers consists of 6 faculty members and 6-8 residents/fellows in Nuclear Medicine. We additionally train radiology residents in the UW Diagnostic Radiology residency and cardiology fellows for Nuclear Cardiology in the Department of Medicine, Division of Cardiology. We are a diverse section with an extensive track record of academic success. While all faculty members have experience with all aspects of Nuclear Medicine, dedication and expertise in their chosen clinical and research areas is encouraged and supported, such as in oncology imaging and radionuclide therapy, Nuclear Cardiology and neurological Nuclear Medicine, to name the most highlighted areas, in addition to others. State of the art 2 GE DMI PET/CT systems are located at UWMC-Montlake and FHCC. Additional systems across the sites of care include 7 GE SPECT/CT systems, multiple gamma camera systems and Hologic DXA systems. Service expansion with the addition of a brand-new PET/MR scanner will provide ample opportunities for clinical and translational research. We have ample departmental and university resources for teaching and research, including access to cutting edge technology from GE Healthcare and Philips Medical Imaging and protected academic time commensurate with funding.

Seattle is consistently ranked among the top three urban areas for quality of life, with superb recreation and outdoor activities nearby and a very temperate climate. Qualifications

Candidates should meet the following requirements:

• M.D., or foreign equivalent, in the field and eligibility for full medical licensure in Washington State
• Successful completion of one of the following
  • Combined nuclear medicine/diagnostic radiology residency with diagnostic radiology board certification with CAQ Nuclear Radiology or ABNM certification,
  • Diagnostic radiology with nuclear medicine fellowship and diagnostic radiology board certification and CAQ Nuclear Radiology or ABNM certification,
  • Nuclear medicine residency with diagnostic radiology board certification, with CAQ Nuclear Radiology or ABNM certification
  • Nuclear medicine residency with ABNM certification.
• Excellence in academic achievement as demonstrated by a record of scientific or educational presentations and/or publications.

In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
