POSITION: Assistant or Associate Professor in the School Psychology Program in the Division of Counseling and Psychology in Education
JOB DESCRIPTION: The school psychology program is pleased to announce a tenure-track assistant or associate professor position for our NASP-accredited Ed.S. and Ph.D. School Psychology programs. The program prides itself on their team-based approach to mentoring students and providing instruction and experiences to teach the comprehensive role of a school psychologist. Primary responsibilities include teaching graduate courses, providing advising and dissertation direction, supervising practicum students, conducting research, and applying for external funding. The program was recently awarded a $3 million Mental Health Demonstration Grant to address the shortage of school psychologists in South Dakota. This individual has the opportunity to join our dynamic team in implementing this program. Additional teaching assignments may be made based on professional and academic background and the needs of the Division. Faculty members are expected to make contributions in teaching, research, and service, including mentoring students in and out of the classroom. You may be required to provide instruction via face-to-face, on-line, or a combination of delivery methods. Start date for this position is August 22, 2024.
QUALIFICATIONS: An earned doctorate by August 22, 2024 in school psychology (preferred) or related field is required . Applicants must show evidence of accomplishments or strong potential for success in teaching, research leading to publication, grant writing, and professional service. We especially encourage applicants who are eligible for licensure as a psychologist in South Dakota, with consultation experience, and school-based experience. Preference will be given to those graduating from NASP- or APA-accredited programs with specialization that augments current program strengths especially experience in field research, and/or behavior analysis. Applicants should be eligible for licensure in the state of SD. SALARY/COMPENSATION: Salary is commensurate with qualifications. Faculty positions are nine-month, tenure-track appointments with the possibility of summer employment.
