Position Summary
The Department of English and Modern Languages at Jackson State University invites applicants for an Assistant or Associate Professor of Film and Visual Culture (tenure track) position.

Qualifications


Minimum Required Education
Must have a terminal degree (MFA, PhD) in English/Creative Writing or other relevant discipline by date of appointment.
Minimum Required Experience
  • Must have successful, relevant teaching experience at the college level; this can include three (3) or more years of GTA experience.
  • Must haveproven publishing experience in peer-reviewed publications.
Minimum Required Licenses and/or Certifications
None.
Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates who can contribute to creating a more equitable global society that supports diverse cultural experiences through teaching, research and service.
Skills and Abilities
  • Must be capable of teaching a range of courses within the literary discipline for general education students, as well as, majors and graduate students.
  • Must demonstrate experience and versatility in inclusive pedagogy.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses.
  • Directing undergraduate and graduate theses.
  • Advising undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Contributing to the intellectual life of the department through individual and collaborative initiatives.
  • Maintaining an active research and publishing agenda.
  • Performing departmental and university committee service.
  • Attending in-person meetings and events (i.e. commencement).
  • Maintaining a schedule for professional development.
