Posting Text | The Criminal Justice Studies Program at the University of South Dakota invites applicants for the position of assistant professor or associate professor of criminal justice. The University of South Dakota is the state’s flagship liberal arts institution with a “higher research” (R2) Carnegie Classification. The Criminal Justice Studies program enjoys major endowments that support faculty and undergraduate research, internships, international/domestic off-campus study opportunities for its majors, and other high-impact practices. The Criminal Justice Studies program will expect the successful candidate to:
Minimum Requirements: Applicants must have a terminal degree in criminal justice, criminology, or a closely related field on the date of appointment. For purposes of this search, the Department considers both the Ph.D. and the Juris Doctor as terminal degrees. Candidates for associate professor should meet the USD’s current expectations for tenure by demonstrating the capacity and ability to meet the standards of performance expected at this rank. These include appropriate time in-rank at the assistant professor level, an established research program, active and significant research publication in the years preceding application, and substantial service record at various levels. The start date will be August 22, 2024. Review of applications will begin Juen 16, 2024 and continue until a suitable candidate is hired.
