The Department of Physics is comprised of 20 faculty members with research programs in atomic, molecular, and optical physics; condensed matter physics; and high-energy physics and particle astrophysics. The condensed matter group currently consists of seven faculty with experimental and theoretical programs in magnetics, topological materials, superconductivity, photovoltaics, and nanoscale pattern formation.

Position Summary
The Department of Physics, Colorado State University, Fort Collins, Colorado, seeks to hire a tenure-track faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor with research interests in experimental condensed matter physics (CMP), with a focus on hard CMP. Exceptional candidates will be considered for positions with a more senior rank. Those who meet the requirements for associate professor as listed in the faculty manual will be considered for an associate rank.
Candidates from all areas of CMP are encouraged to apply, especially those whose research interests complement the CSU program in condensed matter physics. Application materials of semifinalist candidates, including letters of reference, will be made available for review by the entire faculty of the Department of Physics.

Required Job Qualifications
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in physics or a related field.
Preferred Job Qualifications
Postdoctoral and/or substantial experience beyond the Ph.D. is expected. Candidates should have an excellent record of research that includes significant publications in refereed journals. Evidence of initiative and leadership in research, and the potential to develop a vigorous, internationally recognized research program is essential. Candidates should have strong communication skills and a commitment to excellence in teaching, mentoring and advising at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Reflecting departmental and institutional values, candidates are expected to have the ability to advance the Department’s commitment to diversity and inclusion.
