Description

 

Provides supervision to campus technical support staff responsible for user support. Provides general project management support as assigned.

  • Oversees the day-to-day operations and projects of the central information technology support services, including supervision of technical support staff.
  • Provides campus-wide problem resolution for mainframe and desktop operating systems, computing hardware including printers and peripheral equipment, and specialized and general use academic and administrative software applications.
  • Develops and implements policies and procedures related to support services and resource allocation, user training, and documentation; develops manuals for operations of Technical Support unit.
  • Assists with strategic planning and goals for the unit.
  • Assists with management of problem tracking system, which tracks and resolves computing, networking and technology issues.
  • Analyzes security and user authorization privileges for administered computing systems.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

     

    Bachelors and 3 years experience

    Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Requires a minimum of three (3) years of directly job-related experience.

    Additional Position Information

    • Department is willing to accept experience in lieu of education.
    • This position is eligible for Alternative Work Arrangements (AWA) after 2 months or until training is completed

    This position will primarily provide service for digital learning, Classrooms, and events for the C. T. Bauer College of Business. The person in this role will supervise computer lab assistants, set-up schedules, and ensure that proper training is administered, resulting in efficient operations and excellent service. The position will also have a senior tech role within the college.

    Preferences:

    • Ideal candidates will have proven experience in supporting both Windows and Mac platforms in a higher education setting.
    • Knowledge of Papercut is strongly preferred.
    • A/V and classroom troubleshooting in a classroom environment is strongly preferred.
