Posting Summary

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking an Assistant Manager for the Department of Medicine-Infectious Diseases within the New Jersey Medical School. Under the direction of the Program Director the Assistant Manager will contribute to the success of the program to achieve high quality care management and positive clinical outcomes, while meeting the administrative and contractual performance targets, documentation standards, and billing requirements of the grant program(s). Providing care coordination to a limited number of patients, program management and oversight of medical case management program, and clinical and administrative supervision to staff.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

  • Provide day-to-day supervision including the coordination and delegation of work assignments, staff coverage for staff.
  • Collaborate with the patients, their medical provider, designated family/significant others, and community support service providers to address the needs identified in the patient’s health and psychosocial risk assessment and implement a plan of care based upon the needs identified.
  • Provide clinical supervision for licensed staff in accordance with Board of Social Work requirements, rules, and regulations.
  • Perform financial eligibility screening, every six (6) months and assist patients to obtain health coverage if applicable.
  • Monitor grant objectives and performance measures to ensure targets are met.

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) from a professional school accredited by the Council of Social work plus two (2) years post MSW experience.
  • Patient experience in the area of mental health and/or substance abuse.
  • Prior management/supervisory experience.
  • Minimum one-year managed care and/or case management experience.
Certifications/Licenses
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with a license to practice in the State of New Jersey.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Computer literacy with competence in Microsoft Office components.
  • Detail oriented with excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers. Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • At least 3 years of clinical experience in the care of people with HIV/AIDS.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) a plus.
  • Previous experience working with the transgender community highly desired.
  • Knowledge of ICD10 coding is a plus.
