ASSISTANT MANAGER FOR LARGE ANIMAL SERVICES, Division of Comparative Medicine (DCM), to provide a range of support to the manager administering the large animal veterinary technician services program at the Institute.  Will oversee veterinary technical services in multiple animal facilities located in several buildings on campus.  Manager oversight is divided into several functional areas--supervision and coordination of large animal clinical and technical activities, coordinating the efforts of veterinary technicians who provide colony management, clinical and surgical support and technical services to investigators, serving as a liaison between DCM and investigators using large animals, and supervising technical efforts to promote compliance with IACUC guidelines.  Will also assume responsibility, under the guidance and direction of the manager, for some or all of these functional areas and work in conjunction with the manager to ensure the smooth operation of the animal resource program. 

Job Requirements

REQUIRED:  undergraduate degree in animal science, biology, or related field; at least three years of relevant experience; experience with animal handling; supervisory experience; excellent organizational, leadership, interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills; and proficiency with MS Office.  PREFERRED:  managerial experience; experience working with nonhuman primates and with multiple other large animal species, including swine, rabbits, etc.; surgical and anesthesia training; and LATg certification.  Job #21194
