|Description of Work Unit||
Colorado State University invites nominations and applications for the position of Assistant Learning Specialist for Student-Athlete Support Services (SASS). The performance of student-athletes in their sports is one measure of their success. Equally, if not more important, is the academic achievement of student-athletes in the classroom and their overall University experience. The mission of SASS is to help student-athletes become independent and self-reliant learners. In an environment that promotes student-athlete development, the staff provides support for all student-athletes from the time they arrive on campus for a recruiting visit until they graduate. The staff provides resources, experience, and knowledge empowering each student-athlete to reach his/her academic and personal potential.
This position is a one year internship where the successful candidate will work as an Assistant Learning Specialist. In this role, the Assistant Learning Specialist will get a range of experiences in preparation for both learning specialist and tutor coordinator roles by assisting with execution, management, assessment, and development of both Learning Resources and tutoring services. Evening study hall monitoring and some weekend work is required.
|Required Job Qualifications||
• Master’s degree in area of education, psychology, counseling, student affairs/services, social work, or related field
|Preferred Job Qualifications||
• General knowledge of education-impacting disorders, related assessments, and/or experience with IEPs/504 Plans
Demonstrated knowledge of, and relevant ability with, culturally diverse communities among potential target and constituent populations.
