Position Summary

Assistant Instructors will report to the Program Director.
Major Duties:
• Implement curriculum for grant-funded summer camp for STEM, Youth Entrepreneurship, and/or Environmental Science Engineering for Kids.
• Ensure compliance with grant requirements and expectations.
• Instruct and teach hands-on activities to an assigned cohort of participants during the camp.
• Assist with camp planning and logistics.
• Oversee the safety and well-being of children enrolled in the camp on a day-to-day basis, including arrival, departure, and lunch.
• Work as a cohesive team with Instructors and other Assistant Instructors.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • The successful candidate will demonstrate leadership qualities and have excellent interpersonal communication skills, value diversity and have a multicultural perspective with adult/minority students; be highly motivated along with a strong commitment to the community college philosophy.
  • Candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree or higher, be licensed teacher, and have 1-3 years of K-12 teaching experience and working with related curriculum.
  • Candidate must have knowledge of STEM, Youth Entrepreneurship and/or Environmental Science/Engineering
  • Prior summer camp experience desired.
  • Physical Requirements: Varied standing, walking, sitting, bending, ability to lift 25 lbs of supplies or related equipment. All candidates are subject to a Criminal Background Investigation prior to any offer of Employment.
