Assistant Herd Caretaker 
East TN AgResearch & Education Center (UTIA)

Ag & Natural Resources Associate 1 (Asst. Herd Caretaker)  – ETREC –  Full Time - Position performs agricultural duties including livestock care, farm labor, equipment/machinery operation and assist faculty researchers.  Duties could also include general animal husbandry activities such as milking and feeding cows. 

 

Qualifications

 

Qualifications:

           ·          Knowledge of livestock and agricultural operations

           ·          Ability to work with large farm animals/livestock

           ·          Ability to assist in gathering samples and minor medical procedures

           ·          Skilled to operate machinery/equipment including tractors, trucks, forage harvesting equipment

 

Preferred:

           ·          Knowledge of milking and feeding dairy cows

           ·          Skills to operate and maintain farm equipment

 

Education/Experience:

• One year farm or other agricultural experience is required.  A high school diploma (or equivalent) is preferred with 3 years farm or other agricultural experience. 
• A valid TN driver’s license is required.
