We are currently accepting applications for the position of Assistant Golf Professional - Stanford Golf Learning Center Lead (LC). This position will report to the Head Golf Professional and Assistant General Manager of the Stanford Golf Course. This role will work closely with staff across the entire golf operation to ensure all elements of the golf operation are facilitated. This specifically relates to service of LC Customers, Golf Member usage, and facility general upkeep. Additionally, this role is responsible for the staffing, scheduling, and managing of our LC Golf Shop contingent staff. This is a full-time, exempt position.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and direct contingent inside service team of the LC Golf Shop including staffing schedules, onboarding, payroll, uniform distribution
  • Manage LC point of sale and soft good inventory, daily receipts, gift cards, etc.
  • Manage LC outside service equipment
  • Participate in LC budgeting process
  • Direct and maintain the operations of daily picking operations, storage, cleaning, rotation, and maintenance of all LC equipment
  • Communicate with the golf course mechanics team to ensure all assets of the LC (golf carts, utility carts, range picker, etc) are in good working order
  • Coordinate and communicate with Stanford PE instructors and other outside entities on behalf of the LC
  • Organize, run, and manage demo days and outside vendor protocols
  • Order any new operational equipment, place work orders, or outsource equipment repairs that cannot be facilitated in-house
  • Work closely with the Head Golf Professional to foster an excellent culture and service-oriented mind set, ensuring service standards are met.
  • Assist as needed with Tournament Coordinator on group outings and tournaments
  • Assist as needed with manager hours and oversight of Stanford Golf Course Golf Shop
  • Ensure that all safety, accident and emergency policies and procedures are in place and consistently followed.
  • Develop and continually update/refine policy and procedure manuals for service staff to increase quality, to maximize operational efficiency, and ensure legal compliance.
  • Fill any contingent shifts when necessary
  • Private instruction and referrals on club fitting and repair permissible according to LC policies

Qualifications:

  • PGA Member (Class A), or Level 1 PGA Associate in good standing is suggested
  • Valid driver's license is required
  • Advanced knowledge of golf equipment and supplies
  • Knowledge of ordering and inventory control
  • Ability to follow through and complete assigned tasks
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Highly effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of supervisory practices
  • Associates degree and minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience in golf course operations preferred
  • Self-motivated individual who takes initiative, continually self-evaluates, and proactively identifies new opportunities
  • Anticipates and/or responds effectively to changing dynamics and circumstances, welcomes fresh perspectives, and learns from past mistakes and adjusts accordingly
  • Ability to work under pressure and time constraints with the ability to multi-task and prioritize workload in a fast-paced atmosphere

This position, along with all DAPER coaches and staff, is responsible for the integrity of Stanford’s intercollegiate athletics program and for the reputation of Stanford University. This position is responsible for ensuring that his/her/their involvement with Athletics Department activities maintains the integrity of the University’s reputation and does not negatively impact the relationship between the University and its faculty, staff, students and alumni. Additionally, this position must comply with University policies and procedures, NCAA and Pac-12 rules and regulations.

The expected pay range for this position is $66,560-$75,000/per annum. Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location and external market pay for comparable jobs.
