Job Summary:

This position reports to the Director of Web Operations who serves as the University Webmaster. The incumbent provides creative and technical leadership in the development of interactive and user friendly Web sites for the University. Responsibilities include designing and maintaining Web pages in support of the University’s marketing efforts, conducting training workshops for faculty and staff to assist them in designing and maintaining office and department Web pages, and writing style guides and technical assistance bulletins on how to create Web pages for the University community. The incumbent is also responsible for Web site quality control on every important scale: security, reliability, ADA compliance, consistency, and performance.

Required Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Communications, Marketing, Education, Design/Graphic Design, or equivalent related work experience.

2. Minimum of two years of experience in the Web hosting environment, preferably including the WordPress environment, with strong project management skills.

3. Extensive knowledge of HTML and CSS, related editors/tools, techniques of Responsive Web Design, and manual and automated web page coding and debugging.

4. Knowledge of server programming in PHP and/or PERL, and of client programming in Javascript.

5. Minimum of two years of experience with Photoshop or other graphic software.

6. Knowledge of server configuration and security, TCPIP, FTP, SFTP, commonly used Web browsers including Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and Apple Safari.

7. Working knowledge of WCAG 2.0 or 2.1 and related standards for Web site accessibility.

8. Working knowledge of CAPTCHA technologies, CANSPAM Act, third party forms services and other technologies that affect the University’s use of online forms.

9. Experience with production of Youtube videos, Google Analytics reports, and Adobe PDF documents desirable.

10. Excellent oral and written communication skills, including course development and classroom instruction.

11. Must be available to work non-standard hours including evenings and weekends to respond to and resolve high priority problems.

12. Valid driver’s license and access to transportation for travel between campuses.

13. Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background check. Candidates for hire will be required to sign a waiver authorizing the background check and produce a Social Security Card.
