Job Summary
Duties and Responsibilities will entail administrative support for the Office of Research and innovation in serving as Assistant Director and administrator of operations within the Boundary Layer and Subsonic Wind Tunnel (BLAST) facility at the University of Texas at Dallas in support of its mission to investigate viable solutions for land-based and offshore wind power, as well as ancillary research facility-related tasks within the Office of Research and Innovations research operations programs.
Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in related field.
Three plus years relevant professional experience.
Any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Education and Experience
Preferred Experience:
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in the hiring, direction, coordination, and evaluation of assigned employees
  • strong history of excellent customer service in a research environment.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies within a diverse community.
  • Ability to supervise staff and contractors and coordinate projects of varying complexity.
  • Ability to use independent judgment and to manage and impart confidential information.
  • Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
  • Ability to clearly communicate complex technical information in a manner that is understandable to non‐specialist personnel.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Specifically, the purpose of this position is the effective administration of facilities‐related projects and resources to meet the strategic research goals of the Office of Research and Innovation and BLAST Institute faculty researchers by:
1) Providing dedicated and consistent faculty facing support and administrative oversight of mechanical, electrical, and environmental systems supporting the BLAST facility and its mission
2) Quality assurance support including routine surveillance of critical research facilities which includes preparation of reports and recommendations for quantitative improvements in maintenance and operations strategies, and to provide updates on facility conditions and contractor services in assuring shareholder satisfaction, compliance and accountability
3) Equipment procurement and installation including maintaining up‐to‐date knowledge of high technology topics related to such installations
4) Representation and oversight of commissioning processes for new construction and renovation projects
5) Maintaining electronic and digital control systems for research facilities including written documentation to ensure compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local regulations, as well as University policies and best practices
6) Researches, identifies, and interacts with available external vendors and resources for repair of complex research equipment and/or facilities hardware related to research projects
7) Additional job‐related duties as assigned to ensure quality control and services are provided
8) Administrative support to programs under the banner of research operations within the Office of Research and Innovation.
