Job Description

The Assistant Director, under general direction, interprets and evaluates information to modify work processes. Assists in overseeing the coordination and administration of ongoing programs, including planning, organizing, staffing, and training. Organizes conferences, professional speaker series events, and other sponsored programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Assists in designing, planning, coordinating, promoting, and administering projects and programs, including conferences, professional speaker series events, and other IEEI-sponsored programs.
  • Assists in coordinating program evaluation procedures and prepares annual program performance reports.
  • Assists in developing, enhancing, and delivering assigned programs.
  • Prepares budgets and oversees payroll, purchasing, and travel.
  • Assigns and monitors the work flow of accounting and administrative staff that supports the operations of the Institute.
  • Creates and maintains fluid standard operating procedures for administrative duties in order to comply with Federal, State, University, and sponsor policies/procedures related to research administration.
  • Assists with projects, presentations, and other duties as assigned.
  • Manages lab, field, and space issues for IEEI.
  • Supervises program specialist staff.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Experience:

  • Six years of related experience.

Preferred Education:

  • Master’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with Sponsored Research Services and writing grant proposals
  • Knowledge of Texas A&M University Systems
