Job Description

The Assistant Director is responsible for overseeing the Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station's agency communications and public relations needs internally and externally; maintains brand guidelines; assists with the creation of content to promote the agency and increase the awareness of TEES to stakeholders - industry partners, funding agencies, elected officials and the public. Duties will include serving as a liaison between TEES executive leadership and the editorial, web and graphics teams to support the agency's overall goals and objectives for strategic marketing/communications plans.

Responsibilities:

  • Assists in directing internal and external agency communications.
  • Serves as a member of executive communications and functional leads groups.
  • Assists with key agency events.
  • Participates in the ongoing efforts to implement creative marketing and communications strategies to meet agency goals by working collaboratively with various communications teams within Engineering Communications.
  • Provides support for TEES web initiatives, including primary website, TEES centers and TEES initiatives.
  • Assists with the implementation of various media strategies for TEES.
  • Assists with editing and reviewing of written materials for TEES.
  • Coordinates and collaborates with the graphics team to prepare presentations and communicates with appropriate parties to announce new initiatives and discuss organizational changes that maintain a positive image of the agency.
  • Assists with the development and implementation of yearly strategic marketing/communications plan for the agency.
  • Assists with the creation of messaging to communicate priorities and impacts for internal and external constituents, elected officials, stakeholders, employees.
  • Maintains brand guidelines in support of the agency's overall goals and strategic plans.
  • Develops and maintains TEES applied research writing style.
  • Directs TEES social media strategy and style.
  • May supervise support staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Experience:

  • Seven years of related experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, MS Office. and presentation software, the Cascade content management system and HTML/CSS. .
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others.
  • Ability to effectively manage projects.
