The Assistant Director of Student Engagement (Fraternity & Sorority Life) contributes to student engagement portfolio which supports students as they engage in learning outside of classroom, make meaning of their collegiate experience, and develop pride and affinity for Babson College. Specifically responsible for directly supporting specialty communities at the College; serving as an essential resource for all student leaders to explore and appreciate organizational values, individual and collective leadership obligations, and risk management; supporting fraternity and sorority life; and managing the College mascot program.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
Advise fraternity and sorority executive boards and assist students in building a culture of accountability, compliance, and respect among members, including oversight of large scale community events, accreditation process, and awards.
Serve as the primary advisor to the Interfraternity Council (IFC) and Collegiate Panhellenic Council (CPC); provide guidance on short and long-term goals, program planning, standards procedures, and expansion and recruitment procedures.
In collaboration with relevant campus partners, design, implement, and evaluate leadership programming for fraternity and sorority community student leaders in the areas of values congruence, decision-making, consensus-building, resiliency, accountability, and risk management.
Assist with fall and spring New Student Orientation programs, including program design, and coordinates the Peer Mentor program including recruitment, selection, supervision, and training for Orientation.
Develop collaborative partnership with the Alumni Engagement and Annual Giving office in the area of fraternity and sorority and other Special Interest Housing Organizations through alumni affinity group engagement and giving.
Manage the College mascot (Biz E. Beaver) program; responsible for recruitment, training, and supervision of the student cohort; oversee event request process and mascot promotion, including social media presence.
Maintain strong partnerships with fraternal organization advisors; provide regular communication about chapters and community; offer regular training opportunities to better assist advisors in understanding the Babson community and in supporting student leadership development.
Support special interest and living learning communities which includes advising, evaluating, and ensuring integrity in these specialty communities; and identifying new and relevant opportunities for the College to better meet the needs of students, while focusing on student success, affinity, and satisfaction; partner with Residence Life on semester evaluations, annual selection, and other Special Interest Housing projects and programming.
Serve as primary advocate for student groups throughout organizational Community Standards procedures, including management of educationally-based outcomes to ensure student group learning and compliance; serve as an investigator as needed in student organization and athletic team incidents under the oversight of Community Standards.
Actively participate in cross-College initiatives supporting wellness promotion, health education, and risk prevention as they relate to the specialty communities across campus.
Actively support departmental programs and initiatives including but not limited to: new student orientation, club and organization training, theme week programming, and large scale department supported events; lead one other departmental project or program as determined annually.
Conduct regular assessment of programs and initiatives throughout Student Engagement portfolio to inform strategy and ensure prioritization of student learning and development and overall student success.
Serve on divisional and campus wide committees.
Advise and counsel students on personal, academic, and community matters. Make referrals as needed.
Assumes additional responsibilities as required.

WHAT EDUCATION AND SKILLS YOU WILL NEED
Relevant Master’s Degree in Education, Business, Counseling, or other similar field.
At least 4-6 years of relevant experience, including 3-5 years of experience in student affairs.
Must have knowledge of student group advisement and organizational development; student and staff training development; student leadership program development; and student development theory.
Must have knowledge of college policies, conduct processes, and legal issues in higher education.
Must have a demonstrated commitment to working with a diverse and inclusive student body, faculty, staff, and other constituents.
Must have experience with project and program management and evaluation skills.
Ability to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with faculty, administration, staff, parents and alumni. Special emphasis in the following areas: Public Safety, Physical Plant, Student Financial Services, Office of Academic Services, Budgets and Accounts Payable, Event Management Office and Alumni and Friends Network.
Ability to embrace ideas and changes created by all community members.
Must have strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
Must have knowledge of budget management.

HOW AND WHERE YOU WILL WORK
This is a 12-month, full time position.
Requires regular late evening and/or weekend work.
All Babson College faculty and staff authorized to work on campus must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, including any appropriate boosters .
