Job Summary:

The Assistant Director of Student Activities is a full time, 12-month position responsible for managing the Murray Student Center operations and programs. These duties (i.e.) to include

  • Event management: supervision at student and College events
  • Administrative Work: assessment outcomes, submitting plan of action documentation for Strategic Planning efforts, inventory control, preparing reports, maintain an environment of safety and wellbeing at all times for students and to the Community members using the Student Center, supervision during evening and weekend hours in the Office of Student Activities
  • Student Support and Guidance: takes part in interviewing process for new student staff, helps with scheduling of student workers, attends student staff and student mangers meetings
  • Office Operations: technical support, ticket sales, equipment and room set up and break downs, room reservations

The Assistant Director provides support for programming activities and oversees administrative projects related to Murray Student Center activities and conferences.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • 1 -3 years of related work experience 

Essential Functions:

  • Assist in the overall management of the Murray Student Center, including coordination and supervision of all evening and weekend events, ensuring proper staffing and policy adherence, maintain all office operations
  • Responsible to advise an assigned club, advisory council, student government and/or activities board as approved by the Director. Attend weekly meeting to the assigned area in order to help with guidance and to meet the Mission of the assigned group
  • Assist in hiring, supervising, training and performance evaluations of approximately 60 student employees
  • Provide support and advisement for event planning, setup/breakdown and technical assistance to student activities as well as internal/external conferences
  • Play a key role in campus wide programming such as, Welcome Week, Family Weekend, Open House, Orientation, and major programs such as River Fest, Fox Fest, Concerts, Senior Week, Commencement, etc.
  • Collect, review and input priority points for student involvement into the Student Information Management System (SIMS) or Housing Residence Life STAR-RES program
  • Execute and support departmental goals, objectives and priorities in accordance with College’s Mission for each assigned service area
  • Other duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in a related field

    • College pays 100% tuition only.
    • Eligible dependents may be Reimbursed up to $2,000 per semester towards tuition at another accredited institution.
