Job Summary
 

The Assistant Director, Strategic Initiatives is primarily responsible for working closely with and reports directly to the Director of Data Governance & Stewardship, playing a key role in faculty research support. The Assistant Director assists in the development of policies and plans critical to the strategic stewardship of Chicago Booth’s various data. Responsibilities also include fielding requests sent via intake form, creating tickets and routing to appropriate teams/departments, communicating with requesters on status, and monitoring request until data has been acquired and technology needs have been met.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with general research support queries from faculty and staff.
  • Assists with creating and editing policies, and processing documentation, communication plans, and training programs.
  • Leads medium- and lower-priority data governance projects with guidance from Director.
  • Monitors Privacy inbox and routes requests to appropriate teams/departments.
  • Coordinates non-technical (not information technology or construction related) projects from conception to completion.
  • Assists with the assembly of teams and the development of detailed work plans, schedules, project estimates, resource plans, and status reports using straightforward problem-solving skills.
  • Coordinates events, researches logistics, and assists with planning and preparing presentations, event outreach, and post-event write ups.
  • Assists with researching funding opportunities, preparing grant proposals, and drafting and/or editing other written materials with moderate guidance.
  • Maintains website (including but not limited to: employment page, news page, staff page, project pages, innovation challenge page).
  • Assists with other administrative projects as needed and acquire higher level guidance and skills.
  • Performs other related work as needed.


Minimum Qualifications
 

Education:

Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience:

  • A minimum of two years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in higher education and/or with faculty.

Technical Skills or Knowledge:

  • Demonstrated MS Office expertise (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Knowledge of database management software.

Preferred Competencies

  • Outstanding verbal, written, and presentation skills, as well as organizational skills.
  • Excellent strategic planning, critical thinking, maintain confidentiality and attention to detail skills.
  • Handle multiple detailed tasks/projects simultaneously and meet strict deadlines with frequent interruptions.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and collaborate across teams, with immediate colleagues, as well as with students, faculty, and corporate contacts in a multitude of communication methods i.e., in person, email, phone.
  • Navigate the challenges of working within a complex, decentralized environment.
  • Professional demeanor, including tact, discretion, and a customer service-oriented approach.

Working Conditions

  • This position is currently expected to work a minimum three days per week in the office.
