Job Title Assistant Director, Short-Term & Summer Study Abroad
Job Description
The Assistant Director of Short-Term & Summer Study Abroad Programs is a member of the study abroad team of the Notre Dame International (NDI). The position is responsible for implementing the strategy and operations plan of ND International programming, primarily focusing on the short-term & summer programs. This includes recruitment, selection, and preparation of students for their short-term & summer study abroad programs. This position works collaboratively across ND International and other campus departments to support the overall goals of the institution; to this extent, the Assistant Director for Short-Term & Summer Study Abroad provides cross-cultural, analytic, and logistic support in various stages of the study abroad process for the programs offered through Notre Dame International. The Assistant Director of Short-Term & Summer Study Abroad reports to Senior Associate Director of Study Abroad and will work closely with other members of the study abroad team.
Responsibilities include:
Manage international programs for undergraduate students attending short-term summer study abroad programs. Conduct pre-departure orientations, advising sessions and reentry debriefings throughout the study abroad cycle. Maintain accurate and up to date records of all summer study abroad program related documents. Provide guidance to students on program selections, application process, and pre departure preparations. Provide individual student advising to students interested in study abroad. Manage overall initiatives to address students needs and concerns in the study abroad cycle.
Lead summer study abroad projects and initiatives including social media initiatives, newsletter and study abroad programing. Collaborate with marketing and communications teams to promote study abroad programs. Demonstrate skills in project management and implementation.
Assist in preparations of reports, proposals and other documents related to summer study abroad initiatives. Conduct program assessments and evaluations. Maintain spreadsheets and accurate records for summer study abroad. Lead team efforts and implement summer study abroad survey reports.
Collaborate with academic departments and faculty on campus and build strong relationships. Assist in the development and management of program budgets and collaborate closely with the finance team. Collaborate with the communications team to develop promotional material including website management, social media content to increase visibility and recruitment efforts. Develop a marketing strategy for summer study abroad. Responsible for developing and setting program goals and procedures. Responsible for planning summer information sessions and leading pre departure information sessions.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Experience living, studying, or working outside the United States
  • Experience in diversity, equity, and inclusion programming in an academic environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to positively engage people from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds
  • Proficiency with computer technology, including social media, collaborative work platforms, and computer software standard to the study abroad industry
  • Great team player with strong work ethic
  • Strong organizational, project management, administrative, and computer skills
  • Bachelor’s Degree
