JOB SUMMARY
The Assistant Director of Residence Life leads the planning and implementation of projects in their functional area, organizes and communicates data with various stakeholders, collaborates with internal and external stakeholders, and responds to student needs by serving in the on-call structure. The Assistant Director of Residence Life is a live-off position with the Department of Residence Life.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Assessment and Learning Communities
Collects, tracks, and analyzes data belonging, retention, and persistence data for residential life including first-year, first-generation, and underrepresented students' success
Coordinates Learning Community faculty recruitment and onboarding
Supports building staff in the supervision and planning of Learning Communities, including providing specialized training and guidance
Collaborates with the University partners to identify and construct appropriate Learning Community course sections and manage the course registration process for Learning Community students
Manages the Learning Community recruitment, application, and assignments process while maintaining
Staff Recruitment and Training
Develops and implements a comprehensive recruitment, selection, and training plan for Resident Advisors (RAs)
Creates and organizes on-going Resident Advisor professional development and continuing education
Collaborates with Assessment Committee to assess and apply data to improve Resident Advisor recruitment, selection, training, and development processes
Assists the Associate Director of Residence Life in planning and implementing professional staff recruitment and training
Administration
Communicates elements of functional area with internal and external stakeholders
Organizes resources to plan complex processes with overlapping timelines
Creates marketing materials for functional area in collaboration with the Housing Operations Assistant Director of Assignments and Marketing
Schedules meetings, reserves meeting spaces, creates agendas, and leads meetings for functional area, committees, and the Residence Life department
Manages program budgets for functional area and committee purchases
Collaboration
Builds and maintains working relationships with the Housing and Residence Life team and other campus partners
Participates in strategic planning of the department, division, and University
Connects with campus partners for functional area to communicate changes, best practices, and goals
Supervision/Staff Leadership
Provides leadership/supervision to a Graduate Assistant (if applicable) and departmental committee(s) applicable to functional area
The Assistant Director overseeing Assessment and Learning Communities chairs the Assessment Committee and supervises the Learning Community Graduate Assistant
The Assistant Director overseeing Resident Advisor Recruitment and Training chairs both the Recruitment and Training committees
Plans and leads departmental staff meetings in collaboration with the Residence Life Leadership Team and the Housing Operations team
Supervises staff through the on-call process as the Leadership Team member on-call
Crisis Response
Serves in an on-call rotation at the Leadership Team level; this on-call level exists 24/7/365 between the Leadership Team members and may require staff to serve on-call on holiday and University breaks
Responds to student crises and concerns while serving on-call at a leadership level
Provides support and guidance to staff responding to incidents in accordance with the University’s policies and procedures
Performs other duties as assigned

Bachelor's degree
Three or more years of experience in higher education or a related field
