POSITION OBJECTIVE

The Clinical and Translational Science Collaborative of Cleveland is a consortium based at Case Western Reserve University linking clinical and translational research efforts at seven independent institutionsCase Western Reserve University, University Hospitals, Cleveland Clinic, MetroHealth System, Louis Stokes Cleveland Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Northeast Ohio Medical University and University of Toledo. The goal of the $56.3 million NIH-awarded Clinical and Translational Science Collaborative is to transform how clinical and translational research is conducted and enable the School of Medicine (with more than 40 participating faculty) and its partners to provide integrated clinical and translational research capability and educational opportunities due to complex and ever-changing responsibilities in relationship to the 6 separate institutional sites. 

The objective of this position is to provide leadership, project management, and technical expertise in the production and development of trusted internal and external content for the Clinical and Translational Science Collaboratives websites, digital platforms, channels, products and programs to promote its mission, vision, and goals through brand design, and to empower target audiences to take action. Content will be delivered in a variety of formats including but not limited to video, voice/audio, text/newsletters, images, graphics, interactive elements, web, social media, and other forms of media as needed. The position Assistant Director of Research Content and Production (ADRCP) will help enhance the Clinical and Translational Science Collaborative s stature, locally and nationally, by creating and curating compelling content for educational pieces and courses, promote Clinical and Translational Science Collaborative services, support new and ongoing program initiatives, and campaigns to enhance clinical study recruitment. The individual will help lead social media efforts working with the Clinical and Translational Science Award network of over 60 Clinical and Translational Science Award hubs, 6 Clinical and Translational Science Collaborative partner institutions, Case Western Reserve University schools, departments and units to execute an increasingly consistent and unified strategy.

Working with a high degree of independence and under the general direction of the Director of Strategic Partnerships and Research Development, Vice Dean for Clinical and Translational Research, and Executive Director, the assistant director will own the entire multimedia content development process from concept through delivery. The assistant director will deliver high-quality video including ideation, messaging, planning, storyboarding, scripting, and hands-on production: direct, light, shoot, and edit, publish for both short form and long-form videos. The assistant director will create compelling written copy, audio, and graphics in similar fashion.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

1. Serve as a web content expert to Clinical and Translational Science Collaborative and collaborative partners in planning and maintaining website/web pages to ensure content uniformity. Provide and/or identify resources for training, support, and technical assistance to the Clinical and Translational Science Collaborative project participants and assigned departmental web content editors as needed. Work closely with the Director of Strategic Partnerships and Research Development to execute the goals of the Clinical and Translational Science Collaboratives 7-year communications plan. Coordinates the elements required for the smooth launches and ongoing updates for Clinical and Translational Science Collaborative specialty program domains. Also, includes content support for all partner institutions of the Clinical and Translational Science Collaborative. Create and edit sections of the websites and works with internal and external stakeholders to ensure their website needs are being met. Oversee and support websites and applications in Drupal 8 Content Management System or any future university web content management system. Work with the School of Medicines Communications Office regarding the processes involved in launching and maintaining a site. Collaborate with program partners to identify and support web site needs and consistent messaging. Implement and support the marketing and content strategy. Collaborate with appropriate individuals to define, implement, and manage efficient procedures and workflows for the multimedia content life cycle, including creation, approval, legal clearance, revision and removal. Use web analytics data to expand content important to the audiences to prioritize most highly visited content and remove/archive unused or outdated content. Update landing pages and other web features. (20%)

2. Manage content creation and maintain website content, using content creation tools, management tools, and digital imaging, video, and media library. Research, write and edit stimulating and informative content. Capture or otherwise secure quality photos, graphics and/or videos to accompany content. Enhance the user experience by evaluating and refining website content architecture. Manage print projects from creative concept, design and art direction of photographers/illustrators, through print production. Create attractive and effective marketing collateral for specific campaigns to drive utilization of enterprise technologies at Case Western Reserve University that follow the university aesthetic emphasis on clean lines, compelling images, and sharp, smart messaging. (20%)

3. Ensure digital content is written and presented in a format that meets American Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements and is consistent with university brand and style guidelines. Use best practices to achieve high-ranking search engine results. Review search engine optimization (SEO) findings to make necessary changes to each page to attract more visitors to websites. Monitor results and refine as needed. Ensure that online content, including multimedia and local demand-generation material, is strategic, targeted, engaging, and consistent. (20%)

4. Interview subject matter experts and project stakeholders on and off camera to define project scope, goals, audience, messaging and `calls to action, budget, resources for allocation, timelines, content strategy and optimal forms of media for projects (video, podcast, graphics, print, newsletter, social media etc.); and gather the required information and assets for productions. Develop and maintain relationships with additional internal and external media production support services (UMC, businesses, freelancers, etc.). (10%)

5. Partner with Clinical and Translational Science Collaborative participating institutions to align, centralize, and promote information and resources on an ongoing basis. Develop relationships with internal departments and external organizations and businesses that may aid in reaching target audiences. Build awareness amongst partners institutions of Clinical and Translational Science Collaborative services to further advance research knowledge and participation. (10%)

 

NONESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Plan and create multimedia projects that support Clinical and Translational Science Collaborative goals and objectives. Identify opportunities to optimize or enhance existing video and multimedia content based on current marketing trends and needs. Stay up to date on multimedia development and delivery trends, equipment, and best practices to maximize effectiveness with the intended audience(s). (5%)

2. Measure results of communication efforts and ensure consistent framing of messages. Organize and manage video and media assets in a library/ archive. (5%)

3. Collaboratively develop and support thematic and core messaging for implementation across all content. Collaboratively develop and support project-specific messaging complimentary to core messaging. (5%)

4. Perform annual audit of MyCTSC membership database and regular maintenance of membership among all Clinical and Translational Science Collaborative communications platforms. (2%)

5. Attend university and medical school training sessions to keep up to date with policies and procedures. (2%)

6. Perform other duties as assigned. (1%)

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience: Minimum of 8 years of media production or related experience. Experience in clinical research, video/media production and marketing/advertising in an academic, hospital/medical center is preferred.

Education: Bachelors degree required. Prefer advanced degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Graphic Design.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Standard office environment. Candidate must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Occasional travel to CTSA Program meetings. Must be able work outside of regular office hours as needed.

This position is eligible for hybrid work arrangement up to two remote days per week at the discretion of the department. New employees may begin a hybrid schedule upon approval from the supervisor, successful completion of an orientation period and signing the remote work checklist certification form.
