JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Assistant Director of Rec Sports and Family Programs is responsible for the day to day operation and staff supervision of a comprehensive Recreational Sports program that consists of Sport Clubs, Family Programs, and Intramural Sports. The Assistant Director will be responsible for development, long-range planning and assessment, budget, risk management, and maintaining accurate records of participation. This position reports to the Associate Director of Campus Recreation. Evenings and weekends are required.
Job Duties:
· Directs the recruitment, selection, supervision, payroll process, and evaluation of staff and students; provide guidance, and is responsible for professional development and training for staff.
· Provides supervision to the Program Manager for Recreational Sports and Family Programs and student staff
· Provides leadership and direction for a comprehensive Sport Club, Youth/Family, and Intramural Sport programs; ensures department policies and procedures follow local and state regulations; creates various reports including annual and semiannual reports as needed.
· Assess, evaluate, and mitigate risk for programs, implement departmental emergency action plan, inspect campus program areas and fields, and contribute to the Departmental Safety Committee.
· Maintain records, contract agreements, and sports equipment
· Responsible for scheduling and coordinating departmental programs; consults with and responds to participant questions and concerns.
· Develop, plan, and implement long range strategic plans and assessment of student development, learning outcomes, evaluations of programs, services, and staff.
· Develop program budgets, monitor expenses and revenue goals, and identify opportunities for fundraising, sponsorship, and grants to support programs and events.
· Collaborate with campus partners and academic units to develop and implement programs and events that contribute to student success.
· Performs other job-related duties as required.
Qualifications
Bachelors and 3 years experience
Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Requires a minimum of three (3) year of directly job-related experience.
