Description

 

Sell, acquire, lease, develop and manage real estate transactions and assets for the University of Houston System(UHS). Assists the Executive Director and Director with the management and operational functions within the Officeof Real Estate Services. Manages a portfolio of system-wide mineral rights and real estate properties. Oversees financial performance, title stewardship, records, business leases and other real estate-related transactions.

  • Negotiate the sale, lease and acquisition of real estate assets and coordinate the processing of documents fortransactions.
  • Coordinates due diligence processes with respect to real estate acquisitions.
  • Review and develop policies and procedures for real estate transactions and property management.
  • Establishes and maintains administrative, financial, and operational plans for a portfolio of real estate andmineral properties.
  • Through the management of a third party vendor, ensures optimization of asset value and income througheffective business contracts, leases and mineral interest transactions.
  • Coordinates with UH departments and external vendors to maintain physical site of real estate properties.Responsible for financial stewardship and reporting in accordance with approved business plans.
  • Represents UH in matters pertaining to public infrastructure and land use, granting of easements, and the useand value of real estate and mineral properties held by the university.
  • Analyses market conditions to establish optimized terms in contracts for mineral rights and real property leasesof properties. Negotiates contracts on real properties with both internal and third-parties.
  • Assesses the value and attractiveness of real estate and mineral properties gifts to UH.
  • Conducts site assessments and reviews title conditions of real estate and mineral properties. Performs other job-related duties as required.

    Qualifications

     

    Bachelors and 7 years experience.

    Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline, preferably business administration with emphasis in real estate or finance. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed.

    Experience: Requires a minimum of seven (7) years of directly job-related experience.

    Certification/Licensing: Certified Property Manager or Institute of Real Estate Management or comparable professional designation in petroleum land management.

    Additional Information / Preferred Qualifications: 

    Prefer Texas real estate license. Experience working in a corporate or state agency environment. 

    • Ability to partner with professional service providers to procure, plan and budget for daily operations including repairs, maintenance, tenant improvements and capital projects. · 
    • Experience with robust lease management data base and software systems.  
    • Experience interpreting title commitments/policies and land surveys. 
    • Extensive experience interpreting real estate contracts and agreements with an important level of attention to detail and accuracy, planning, and organizational skills and coping with demanding situations, shifting priorities, and deadlines.  
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to present information and interact effectively across all levels of the organization.
