Position Title ASSISTANT DIRECTOR/OUTREACH & PROGRAMMING
Position Summary
The Assistant Director of Outreach and Programming for the Michigan Consortium for Addressing Rural Education Expansion and Retention (MiCAREER) Resource Hub will serve as an on-going liaison with rural PK-12 Districts and interested individuals who want to employ the services of the Hub to become an educator serving rural Michigan communities. The Assistant Director must be knowledgeable on all programs in the MiCAREER Resource Hub in order to provide participants with accurate information and assistance with program selection. The Assistant Director will also lead marketing and recruitment efforts for the Hub and connect participants with community-based mentors. This position is also responsible for arranging any on-site training and other outreach engagements for the Hub, utilizing community resources to expand awareness of the MiCAREER Resource Hub and share information with potential participants. Additionally, the Assistant Director serves as a liaison, aligning district-wide initiatives to the Hub and convening with key stakeholders to define action steps to connect initiatives.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree.
Three years of experience working in PK-12 schools, higher education, or a related field.
Exceptionally strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
Ability to plan, establish priorities, and handle multiple tasks and projects.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and project a positive attitude.
Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.
Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree.
Five years of experience working in PK-12 schools, higher education, or a related field.
Familiarity with academic advising, admissions, and/or student affairs in a higher education setting.
Familiarity with Experiential Learning and/or Prior Learning.
Duties & Responsibilities
Organizes all outreach efforts including drafting marketing materials and communicating with PK-12 partners, particularly human resources offices and/or leadership teams in rural-serving communities, including informational on-site meetings and webinars, social media campaigns, and presentations/representations at state and regional events such as employment fairs.
Serve as a liaison between districts and Hub staff regarding requests and feedback from PK-12 partners, including ways to align the efforts of the Hub to other efforts to support the profession (ex. EXPLORE and LAUNCH programs).
Collaborates with Hub staff to maintain a database of all individuals who express an interest in the Rural Hub and initiate first-contact with interested individuals.
Facilitates collaborative meetings amongst advising services and key support staff from all the educator preparation institutions (EPIs).
Serves as the main contact for interested individuals and connects candidates with Hub EPI program representatives and support staff to learn more about additional certifications and endorsements.
Completes intake processes including web-based support and works directly with the Experiential Learning Strategist to ensure prior learning credits are reviewed and factored into programming decisions.
Connects participants with the designated program faculty member to receive a mentor and or provide support for a district provided mentor.
Assists with creating personalized, community-based support plans with professional, academic, and personal interventions as appropriate.
