Job Description:

The Assistant Director for Outreach and Recruitment is responsible for relationship building with regional employers, community colleges and other related agencies for the purpose of promoting Graduate, Online and Continuing Education credit and non-credit programs that contribute to the workforce development of the region and the Commonwealth.  The Assistant Director will track partnership activities and share updates regarding their work on a routine basis.  In addition, this position will reach out to prospective students, applicants, re-admits, and matriculated students in specified programs including the SGOCE undergraduate programs . This position serves as a liaison between the GCE academic divisions, admissions and other student service departments to coordinate communication to prospective and current students and manage internal communication between departments regarding enrollment and service.  This position contributes to the strategic enrollment planning process by providing recruitment strategies for the programs and audiences they work with and also managing the implementation and on-going communication of approved strategies for their assigned programs. This position is also responsible for coordinating a variety of activities in GCE, including webinar development and facilitation, coordinating degree completion and transfer student specific GCE communication, performing unofficial transcript evaluations, assisting with online orientation and other duties as assigned.  In addition, this position oversees the schools transfer student services and processes including prior learning assessment through portfolio and provides direction related to transfer student policy changes.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Travels to regional employers, community agencies, community and scholastic events and community colleges to promote SGOCE programs and services and establish on-going relationships, including community colleges (in coordination with admissions).
  • Researches partnership opportunities and regional events to identify and recommend activities for GCE outreach.
  • Seeks out opportunities to expand non-credit offerings and customized programming.
  • Responsible for developing and managing the protocol for recruitment at events in terms of table set-up, recruitment materials and the collection, storage and uploading of contacts collected at events in collaboration with the Director of Enrollment for SGOCE.
  • Responsible for maintaining relationships with community colleges and serving as the primary SGOCE contact for community college outreach. Updates and maintains information within SGOCE to support transfer students and prospective students including review of on-boarding materials, website resources, collateral etc.
  • Oversees services and processes for transfer students and serves as the SGOCE transfer representative for the transfer taskforce and other related committees.
  • Responsible for conducting pre-advising for prospective students including conducting unofficial transfer evaluations on request.
  • Assists with managing the 2-year course rotation schedules with the academic departments and reviewing the seats list to ensure accuracy in course listings.
  • Develops, implements and assesses communication to assigned prospective student audiences.
  • Fields phone calls, walk-in visits and online chat with prospective and current students across programs as needed.
  • Responsible for conducting on-going follow-up with assigned admitted not-registered and current students who are not registered each semester.
  • Assists with the development and facilitation with online orientation.
  • Assist with the facilitation of the New Student Phone Outreach campaign to welcome students to the university and help assure a smooth transition.
  • Serves as a liaison to assigned academic divisions, attends academic department meetings and coordinates communication between academic divisions, SGOCE, Admissions and other student service departments.
  • Assists with strategic enrollment planning by providing input on recruitment strategies for assigned programs, communicating information between departments and helping to meet program enrollment goals.
  • Responsible for planning and participating in recruitment activities for assigned program including attending career, transfer or graduate fairs, meeting with local employers and other community events or activities as needed.

  • Requirements:

  • Master's Degree preferred, Bachelor's degree required in related field with experience in an office environment or business environment, preferably sales experience and/or recruitment experience in higher education with a working knowledge of office practices, procedures and equipment, and strong technology experience. Candidate must possess two to five years of full time or equivalent part time experience.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Excellent computer skills; working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including ability to interact with both on-campus and off-campus constituencies.
  • Ability to maintain and use discretion in handling confidential information.
  • Experience working collaboratively with diverse populations.
  • Ability to work efficiently on a variety of tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Organizational skills for accurate record keeping and data collection
  • Ability to establish and maintain harmonious and collaborative working relationships within the department and with the university community and the general public.
  • Ability to perform above duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Must be able to satisfactorily pass a check conducted by the Criminal History Systems Board (CORI check), a SORI and a background check satisfactory to the university.
  • Preferred requirements/proposed additions to description:

  • Experience with CRM systems such as Technolutions Slate
  • Ability to complete preliminary general transfer credit evaluations
  • Experience working with adult and non-traditional learners
  • Experience developing communication plans and drip marketing campaigns
  • Preference will be given to those who have reviewed transfer applications for admission and have made appropriate admission decisions

  • Additional Information:

    This is a full-time, benefited, exempt, professional APA position. The annual salary range for this position is $60K - $62K.
