JOB SUMMARY

The University of Connecticut is seeking applications and nominations for the position of Assistant Director of Video Services (Media Producer 1). This individual will be a member of the Department of Video Services within the Division of Athletics. The daily assignments and responsibilities will be provided by the Assistant Athletic Director for Video Services.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinating various gameday live production operations (capturing, editing, and reproduction of video) for Athletics events.
  • Traveling with Athletics programs to road and postseason contests to capture and produce highlights and behind-the-scenes creative video content.
  • Capturing and editing high-quality video content to be used on multiple University and Athletics platforms.
  • Assisting with maintenance and technical problems related to equipment.
  • Executing and operating video equipment and components during Athletics events.
  • Developing and providing content for web and social media applications.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in media or related field.
  • Two or more years of experience in the field of sports video with the technical ability to produce a variety of high-quality video materials.
  • Demonstrated skill in the operation and capability of video equipment and systems and the ability to diagnose problems.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of video equipment, live production equipment, and related software, and the ability to perform minor maintenance on equipment.
  • Appropriate knowledge of NCAA rules.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and others.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrated work experience in collegiate athletics live gameday production and producing creative video content at a Division 1 college or university.
  • Demonstrated experience in the training of student assistants.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with the following equipment: Dreamcatcher, 3-Play, Xpression, AJT, Ross Carbonite, Daktronics Show Control, Broadcast Pix; Clear Coms Free Speak.
  • Knowledge of field and studio lighting and audio equipment, knowledge of computers and software programs (Mac, Final Cut, and Adobe Creative Suite).
  • Demonstrated ability in the setup and operation of Canon & Sony DSLR and Cine cameras, Hitachi, and Panasonic PTZ cameras.

APPOINTMENT TERMS

This is a full-time position and includes evening and weekend hours as dictated by games, practices, and other events. The University offers a competitive salary, outstanding benefits including employee and dependent tuition waivers at UConn, and a highly desirable work environment.
