Description | The Assistant Director is responsible to provide assistance to VA students to manage their educational benefits and provide support with educational planning. |
Responsibilities | School Certifying Official (SCO) for VA Educational Benefits (65%).
Advise students on procedures regarding their benefits. (20%)
Collaborate with other UNE Departments and the VA. (10%)
Manage Certification Systems/Reports. (5%)
Supervision Exercised: Assigned staff and work study students as needed. |
Qualifications | Bachelor’s degree plus 3 to 5 years of relevant experience including higher education experience working with the Veteran population, or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired. • Commitment to a student-centered approach, demonstrating initiative in reaching out and building relationships with veterans in the student body. • Ability to meet and enforce deadlines, take initiative, and work independently to carry out assignments. • Superior communication, presentation, interpersonal, ambassadorial, and organizational skills • Excellent analytical/problem-solving skills. • Previous experience with Banner is a Plus • Previous Business Intelligence and reporting tools experience such as Cognos Reporting Studio a plus. • Experience in maintaining complex records systems. • Familiarity with higher education organization and policies. • Demonstrate clear and effective communication skills with groups and individuals including verbal, written, and group presentations • Ability to deal effectively with students, faculty, staff, senior administrators, parents, government agencies and other outside organizations. |
