Position Summary
Under the general direction of the School of Law Associate Dean of Students, is responsible for the support of students throughout their law school experience, including overseeing student organizations; managing student accommodations; and planning and implementing key events and initiatives in the Office of Student Life.


Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Serves as program advisor for law student organizations, including maintaining, interpreting, and implementing policies; conducting orientation for student organization officers; meeting regularly with student leaders; and maintaining information for the School of Law website. Assists students and student organizations in planning programs and events. Serves as primary advisor for the Student Bar Association.
  • Develops and promotes student leadership initiatives.
  • Manages and oversees implementation of high-impact initiatives, programs, and events relevant to the student body, including JD student orientation and law school recognition events at commencement.
  • Works with students, faculty, and staff to ensure that the law school is compliant with the ADA and that students are provided with academic and other accommodations .
  • Assists with course registration, exam administration, and other programs and events coordinated by the Office of Student Life.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor degree.
  • Five years or more of progressively responsible experience in higher education student affairs or the legal profession.
  • Experience in a higher education institution, student affairs division, and/or leading initiatives.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills, written and verbal; a service-oriented communicator who is a true team player.
  • Project management, program coordination, organizational and event planning skills.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines with varying degrees of pressure; ability to exercise judgment and take corrective action
  • Ability to support students in distress, provide conflict resolution, manage crisis situations, and engage in difficult conversations.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and three years of related experience.
  • Some positions may require a master’s degree.

Salary Range
$49,000.00 - $83,800.00 / Annually

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
