JOB SUMMARY

The Assistant Director of Student Enrollment and Registration will oversee Admissions, Scheduling, and Registrar for the UConn Hartford Campus. Under the direction of the Director of Finance and Operations (DFO) and in association with the Director of Academic Affairs (DAA), the Assistant Director of Student Enrollment and Registration will work collaboratively with the DFO, DAA, UConn Hartford Faculty, Regional Affiliates, and UConn Storrs to support UConn Hartford’s deep commitment to and experience with antiracist practice, equity, and inclusion.

The successful candidate for this position will have the ability to work as part of a team to efficiently manage a detailed portfolio; a strong ethical sense; good judgment; and a deep commitment to antiracist practice, equity, and inclusion.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Directs supervision of professional staff, including setting goals and objectives, monitoring workloads, giving feedback, and evaluating performance.
  • Makes daily operational campus decisions for Registrar, Scheduling, Admissions, and Front Desk Operations.
  • Performs complex decision making working with over 40 different departments in Storrs supporting the building of our class schedule and in determining faculty loads.
  • Coordinates with four campus graduate programs to build their course schedule and fit non-standard course times into a complex course schedule.
  • Leads enrollment goal setting and objectives for the Hartford Campus. Works weekly in collaboration with the Storrs Admissions Office on targets, events, publications, and exceptions to admissions decisions. 
  • Facilitates the scheduling of final exams.
  • Utilizes and trains direct reports in CourseLeaf, PeopleSoft, EMS, and Nexus operating systems daily for reporting.
  • Leads and serves on committees at the campus level, Storrs, and across all regional campuses.
  • Controls, monitors, troubleshoots, and assigns all classroom space for classes including 1,210 seats in three buildings.
  • Leads classroom space management with Hartford Public Library and provides oversight of classroom assignments across the UConn Hartford buildings.
  • Serves as liaison and advanced resource to students, staff, faculty, and others relating to Registrar, Scheduling, and Admissions.
  • Interprets and applies complex Registrar rules, policies, and regulations and ensures accuracy of input work by professional staff.
  • Liaise with the Financial Aid Office and communicate campus needs and coordinate the schedule of weekly Financial Aid Officer hours on the Hartford Campus.
  • Supports DAA in designing course sequencing plans and major/course needs for campus.
  • Creates, analyzes, and maintains reports related to scheduling, faculty data, and campus retention data to be presented to DAA, DFO, and other Campus Dean Administrators as needed.
  • Designs, implements, and monitors a Winter/Summer schedule.
  • Teaches one UNIV 1800 course through First Year Programs each year and mentors students as part of the UConn Connects program.
  • Completes faculty postings and assists DAA with interviews as needed.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field and five years of related work experience, including one of year experience serving as an advanced team member. 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of undergraduate programs, and student enrollment.
  • Demonstrated experience working with a diverse population in an urban campus.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple short- and long-term projects.
  • Experience managing records, organizing data, and preparing reports.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree in an appropriate field.
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering an anti-racist and inclusive campus environment
  • Experience within Enrollment Management, Admissions, and/or Registrar Offices.
  • Experience in a large university setting.
  • Experience with supervision.
