Description of Work Unit
The Student Resolution Center (SRC) encourages students to gain awareness, knowledge, skills, and opportunities as they navigate challenges and make informed decisions. We promote safe, respectful and inclusive communities by valuing integrity, perspective-taking and personal responsibility.
SRC aims to assist, educate and support CSU students through two processes:
Conflict Resolution – voluntary, neutral, confidential process to assist students when conflicts, disputes or issues arise. Programs and services include Conflict Coaching, Restorative Justice, Mediation, Process Consultation, and training.
Student Conduct – one-on-one meetings to discuss alleged violations of the Student Conduct Code, hear perspectives, explore personal responsibility, hold students accountable and provide educational and restorative outcomes when appropriate.

Position Summary
This Assistant Director of Student Conduct Services (University Housing) will have primary responsibility for the oversight and adjudication of conduct cases for students residing within residence halls. This Assistant Director of Student Conduct Services (University Housing) will also serve as the conduct liaison between the SRC and University Housing. The position plays a critical role intervening in student misconduct, facilitating a fair process, promoting student development and collaborating with campus and community partners.
Required Job Qualifications
• Master’s degree required in student personnel, higher education, counseling, or related field.
• Three (3) years professional experience in student affairs and/or higher education with an emphasis in student conduct
• Experience adjudicating student conduct cases in higher education
• Experience working with students with substance abuse issues and students with mental health concerns
Preferred Job Qualifications
• Understanding concepts of multiculturalism, diversity, power/privilege
• Experience working with diverse populations (e.g. ethnically diverse individuals, students with disabilities, adult learners, international students, and gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender students)
• Supervisory experience
• Knowledge and application of theories and research in student development, substance abuse and interpersonal violence
• Knowledge of legal issues in higher education, including but not limited to Title IX, Clery Act, FERPA
• Knowledge of alternative dispute resolution practices including restorative justice
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate with campus and community constituents
• Knowledge of and/or experience working with the criminal justice system
• Highly developed written communication experience such as reports, proposals, professional correspondence, presentation content and materials, etc.
• Demonstrated public speaking skills (i.e. facilitation and presentation skills)
· Demonstrated experience planning, organizing, and implementing educational programs, trainings, and workshops

Essential Duties


Job Duty Category Student Conduct, Adjudication, and Risk Management
Duty/Responsibility
• Adjudicate alleged misconduct for students residing within University Housing residence halls utilizing student development theory; assign discipline standing when appropriate.
• Adjudicate alleged academic misconduct for all students utilizing student development theory; assign discipline standing up to and including disciplinary expulsion when appropriate.
• Determine and assign effective sanctions that emphasize education, student development and responsible behavior.
• Counsel and advise students on an individual or group basis regarding behavioral, academic, substance abuse and emotional issues. Initiate referrals when appropriate to proper resource agencies on campus.
• Understand and implement basic threat assessment protocols and collaborate with campus and community partners including but not limited to: Support and Safety Assessment, Student Case Management, the Women and Gender Advocacy Center, the CSU Police Department, Fort Collins Police Services, the 8th Judicial District and Fort Collins Municipal Court.
• Advocate for students’ rights and due process in an educational and supportive environment.
• Determine and engage in appropriate crisis intervention protocol for students in the residence halls and collaborate with on and off campus partners to serve students in crisis.
• Serve as a hearing officer for alleged undergraduate academic misconduct cases referred from faculty.
• Serve as a member of the Lead Team to make critical decisions related to student organization conduct processes and manage ongoing student organization caseload; ensure timely follow-up on each case and maintain open communication with impacted campus partners
• Recruit, train, and implement professional development opportunities to the University Investigation Team, which investigates alleged student organization misconduct in a timely way.
• Evaluate behavior concerns for University applicants with prior criminal or disciplinary history; screen and clear applicants for admission.

• Design, coordinate and facilitate training and ongoing professional development for University Housing Hearing Officers and Resident Assistant student staff (fall, spring, summer semesters).
• Facilitate monthly update and process meetings for University Housing Hearing Officers.
• Create, facilitate, and manage appropriate educational workshops or referrals to support students’ educational and personal success.
• Oversee and analyze effectiveness of educational programming/workshops offered through the Student Resolution Center.
• Conduct community outreach by presenting to faculty, parents, students, and community members on the services and programs affiliated with the office.
• Co-lead the development, facilitation, and evaluation of programs on behavior and responsible campus citizenship and civility to students in the residential communities.

• Lead, train, and support Residence Life staff in the development of student conduct philosophy consistent with university mission and values. Evaluate staff’s ability to connect philosophy to practice in their respective halls.
• Participate in and direct ongoing visioning, strategic planning, program review, and assessment strategies for University Housing & the Student Resolution Center.
• Provide leadership for the development and maintenance of the student conduct guide for University Housing Hearing Officers.
• Oversee, train, and assist in evaluating University Housing Residence Directors, and Assistant Residence Directors while serving in their role as University Hearing Officers.
• Review and make recommendations/edits related to the Student Conduct Code.
• Exhibit and execute a working knowledge and understanding of the concepts of student development, federal, state and local laws and ordinances, federal and state legislation and case law related to student conduct in higher education, Title IX, substance abuse and addictions, student rights and responsibilities, due process, University policy and procedure, and navigating campus partner policies, needs, and insights.

• Serve as requested as the representative of the Student Resolution Center on University committees.
