Position Description

  • Work closely with the CDO and other members of the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (ODEI) and other Sr. Leaders in OSA and across the school to ensure seamless support for all HGSE students around issues of diversity, equity and inclusion.
  • Serve as the point of contact for students on DEI matters, and supports faculty and staff DEI initiatives as needed
  • In collaboration with ODEI team members design and implement strategic priorities and initiatives to advance HGSE DEI goals.
  • With Office of Student Affairs, Degree Programs Office, Academic Affairs, faculty, and administrators create programs, policies and educational opportunities to meet HGSE student DEI learning objectives.
  • In collaboration with ODEI assess learning opportunities across multiple dimensions of diversity and develop programs designed to build an equitable and inclusive community and strengthen a climate of inclusion for students, faculty and staff.
  • In collaboration with members of ODEI, provide leadership, guidance, management, and advocacy to student organizations, faculty, and staff planning programs and events related to DEI.
  • Plan, manage, and evaluate existing programs and signature events including but not limited to affinity groups, AOCC, and other yearly ODEI events.
  • Serve as a point of contact for the Office of Student Affairs and Academic Affairs and consult with them around DEI related issues.
  • Develop assessment and evaluation tools for programs, events, and initiatives.
  • Work with ODEI team members to identify and execute on short- and long-term strategies and goals that will strengthen DEI offerings for HGSE
  • Provide mentorship, support, guidance and leadership development to individual students and student organizations relating to DEI.
  • Assist in the development and supervision of ODEI Interns.
  • Manage budget and allocate funding for HGSE student organizations.
  • Serve as a liaison to other university departments and schools. Serve on campus committees as identified or requested.
  • Other duties as needed

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and 3+ years experience advancing DEI initiatives.

Ability to work nights and weekends as needed required.

Additional Qualifications and Skills

Master's degree, preferably in higher education, student personnel administration, counseling or a related field and years of related experience.

Ability to build effective and trusting relationships that model inclusion through listening and engagement.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal including communicating issues clearly and and gathering information through consultation with a wide variety of constituents

Strong decision-making skills. Ability to use discretion, exercise good judgment, and maintain strict confidentiality.

Strong organizational skills, detail oriented.

Ability to work effectively on multiple tasks with general direction.

Strong commitment to diversity and social justice, including intersectionality issues.

Experience with student supervision, student activities, and programming preferred.

Experience developing and facilitating education sessions, workshops, and other DEI content.

Previous experience supporting college students, working with graduate students strongly preferred.
