Friends University is seeking to fill the Assistant Director of Physical Plant position in Wichita Kansas. This position serves as primary liaison representing Physical Plant to the university and vendors and responsible for the delivery of all PP services for the university ensuring that services are delivered cost effectively and executed to excellent standards. Developing the general maintenance team to ensure they are performing in their roles in executing all services to the university in a prompt and exemplary manner. This position is responsible for the budgetary management of PP financial and operational reporting for the University. Oversees supervision of Plant operations and staff when Director of Physical Plant is not present. Works collaboratively with Director of Physical Plant on all aspects of the maintenance and upkeep of physical facilities. Work hours are 7 am to 4 pm Monday through Friday.

Skills & Requirements

Two years’ supervisory experience is required.  Experience with facilities business operations including work order scheduling, vendor negotiations, and intradepartmental communications management. 

An Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.

Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills are necessary.

Ability to maintain confidential information in a professional manner is required. Must be able to work in a variety of weather and able to lift a minimum of 35 pounds.
