The Office of the Dean of Students is seeking an Assistant Director of OSU Assist and Student Care Services. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE), 12-month, professional faculty position.
The Assistant Director of OSU Assist and Student Care Services will primarily oversee the OSU Assist program operations including hiring and training for, supervising, and evaluating service efforts. OSU Assist launched in September 2022, providing a compassionate mobile crisis response for non-life-threatening, but crisis-related, emergent scenarios such as welfare checks, substance misuse, housing insecurity, gender-based violence, or mental health crises. OSU Assist is dispatched as an unarmed, first responder team, trained in behavioral health and crisis response. OSU Assist provides an in-person response, sometimes in lieu of or, when appropriate, in conjunction with law enforcement. The OSU Assist team may also provide crisis response via phone or by other remote means. OSU Assist currently operates 1 PM – 1 AM every day for crisis calls on the OSU-Corvallis campus.
This position supports the Office of the Dean of Students' role in helping the university ensure the safety of the university community, while balancing the needs, well-being, retention, and persistence to graduation of individual students. The Assistant Director will be a member of the Student Care case management team, triaging and coordinating crisis referrals and case follow-up.
