About the Department

The Cincinnati Bearcats compete at the highest level of intercollegiate athletics as a member of the American Athletic Conference. UC fields 18 varsity teams with over 500 student-athletes supported by over 150 full-time staff on the award-winning UC campus in Cincinnati, Ohio. The Bearcats have won seven national championships and 113 conference championships during its proud history. Numerous luminaries and Olympians have worn UC's red and black through the years including hall of fame legends Sandy Koufax, Oscar Robertson and Jack Twyman.  

UC student-athletes averaged a 3.400 GPA in the fall of 2020 with 78 percent of our student-athletes earning spots on the honor roll.

Job Overview

The University of Cincinnati (UC), Department of Athletics seeks applications for an entry-level Assistant Director of Olympic Sport Operations (Sports Program Associate) to work in the Business Office. This is a full-time position, salaried, with a comprehensive benefits package.
  
The successful candidate will be expected to coordinate and execute administrative tasks for assigned Olympic sports while following University of Cincinnati and departmental policies, NCAA Division I, and Conference bylaws and regulations.  Duties include coordinating all aspects of team travel including transportation, hotel, team meals, and per diem distribution. Expense report processing; budget tracking/reporting; game contract processing; amongst other duties.

 


Essential Functions

•Responsible for all aspects of any of the following functions within a sport program:
            •Player Development (prepare student-athletes for personal, academic, and professional success)
            •Business Operations (direct the operational and logistics function of the program)
            •Video Coordination (plan, edit, and produce videography   used in coaching and scouting student-athletes)
            •Player Personnel (liaison in recruiting academically and athletically qualified student-athletes)
            •Recruiting Associates (supports recruiting activities through scouting, planning and coordination of official visits)
            •Administrative Associate (provide direct administrative support and coordination to the coaching staff and support personnel)

•Identify program needs and implement program improvements.

•Collaborate with staff to perform administrative tasks in line with program and departmental goals. Serve as ambassador of the program and look for opportunities to connect the program to the community and business partners.

•May be required to drive a university vehicle and/or student-athletes.

•May provide direct and/or indirect supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.).

•Perform related duties based on departmental need. This job description can be changed at any time.


Required Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Four (4) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.
     

Required Trainings/Certifications
  • Must be able to pass and maintain NCAA recruiting certification if required by sport program. 
  • Valid driver’s license.

Required Experience

Previous experience as a coach or collegiate player or work in an athletic department setting.
