Assistant Director of Maintenance, Facilities Management – Georgetown University

The Assistant Director of Maintenance is responsible for the supervisory, administration, management oversight for utilities (HVAC, electric, plumbing) management, building operations, energy conservation, repair programs and preventive maintenance programs. The incumbent is assigned direct management, administrative and program oversight over specific trade divisions, which may include Air Conditioning, Plumbing, and Low Voltage /Electronics.  The incumbent is an Assistant Director of Maintenance whose responsibilities are coordinated through several subordinate supervisors, and is in support of the Director of Maintenance Services, for the overall administration and direction of the assigned shops, for the maintenance, repair and equipment operation, at the University Campus and Off Site facilities.

Qualifications

Academic Level: High School        

Degree Program (list): Master’s Certification in one of the three trades managed.

Practical Experience:

Hold a certification and or Master’s license in either, Electrical, Plumbing or HVAC for at least 5 years and has worked in two of the fields for 10 years. Possesses experience supervising a team of mechanics in any of the specialized trades including maintenance mechanics for a period of 5 years.  Experience leading a team of mechanics with varying levels of experience on a variety of jobs associated with facility maintenance. 

Technical Qualifications or Specialized Certification:

License or Certification in either Electrical, Plumbing or HVAC or an Associate’s degree or equivalent in facilities management.  General experience in the following trades:  Plumbing, HVAC and Electrical.

Must have computer literacy with specific experience in Microsoft Office Applications, e mail use, database management, spreadsheets, text messaging and word processing.

Must be able to read and understand building blue prints and equipment plans. 

Other Skills

Must have strong written and oral communication skills.  Must have strong customer service orientation.
