Job Summary
 

The Assistant Director provides leadership to the Office of International Student Admissions and Programs (ISAP) as the Primary Designated School Official (PDSO) for Georgia Southern, ensuring Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) compliance. Based on the Statesboro campus, the Assistant Director guides in the analysis, interpretation and implementation of state and federal policies related to F-1 international students, supervising International Student Advisors on the Statesboro and Savannah campuses. This position also serves as the primary department liaison to the College of Graduate Studies, international graduate student prospects and newly admitted graduate students.


Responsibilities
 
  • Serve as the Primary Designated School Official (PDSO), monitoring compliance with federal F-1 regulations and maintaining University SEVIS compliance
  • Lead in the development, implementation and assessment of efficient daily office immigration related processes, procedures and policies
  • Hire, train, manage and supervise International Student Advisors, providing leadership and direction in meeting department goals
  • Oversee data and technology improvements within Terra Dotta Software
  • Advise international students and university departments, presents options, and recommends solutions related to immigration status
  • Plan, develop, and conduct meaningful programs and workshops to support international student success
  • Serve as the liaison for international graduate students and as the primary liaison for issues related to health insurance and taxes for all international students
  • Serve as a University advocate/resource for international students

Required Qualifications
 

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree

Required Experience

  • Three (3) or more years of related work experience
  • One (1) or more years of experience as DSO

Preferred Qualifications
 

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with F-1 federal immigration regulations
  • Intercultural communication and presentation skills

Preferred Educational Qualifications

  • Master's Degree

Preferred Experience

  • Three (3) or more years of experience as DSO or PDSO
  • Supervisory experience
  • Experience creating and implementing programs for international students
  • Experience with Banner and Terra Dotta software

Proposed Salary
 

$50,400 - $55,500

This is an exempt position paid on a monthly basis.
