The University of South Carolina invites applications for a non-tenure-track research position in the Institute for Family in Society, College of Social Work. The Assistant Director will be an integral part of the Integrated Health and Policy Research Team (IHPR), reporting directly to the Associate Director of the IFS. The primary appointment will be to support and grow the Institute’s Medicaid project portfolio, which currently includes a large body of work for the SC Department of Health and Human Services. We seek faculty candidates with expertise in public policy/health policy analysis, health services research, health economics, risk management and insurance, including evaluation of health programs, with an emphasis on Medicaid quality, managed care policy, and Medicaid managed long-term services and supports and other Medicaid waivers. The candidate also should have experience working within a participatory research environment, enabling him/her to secure extramural funding to build upon the ongoing research in the Institute for Families in Society. We seek professionals with exceptional quantitative research skills, interest in federal and state health policy, and a passion for advancing the health and well-being of children and adults, families and communities through research and policy. The position is a 12-month renewable research appointment with opportunity for professional growth and future faculty appointment with a rank at assistant or associate level, commensurate with experience.
|Required Education and Experience||
Doctorate in health services research/health policy, public health, or related field from accredited college or university plus 5 years experience in research, program development and evaluation.
• Creative, entrepreneurial spirit and track record of building new programs and securing federal or foundation grants and/or contracts with state agencies.
• Experience working with or extensive knowledge of public programs such as Medicaid or Medicare.
