Posting Summary

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking an Assistant Director of Field Education, Online-Blended MSW Programs for the School of Social Work. Reporting to the Director of Online Programs and the Director of Field Education, the Assistant Director will provide oversight and day to day management for field placement processes for the blended and online MSW programs.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:
• Oversight of all day-to-day work; primary point of contact for field related issues in online and blended.
• Advising and problem-solving with students, field liaisons, field agencies and field staff.
• Responsible for recommending field grade for all students each semester.
• Coordinates and oversees ongoing relationship between SSW and field agencies for online and blended programs.
• Recruits and supervises field liaisons.
• Placement of students in NJ and across the country (approx. 50 students/semester).
• Develops new relationships with field agencies.
• Maintains relationships with existing field agencies.
• Maintains communication with field instructors throughout the course of each semester.
• Collaborates with other SSW program field offices.
• Works closely with students in the online and blended MSW programs to assign field placements and support placement experience throughout the entire program, including problem resolution.
• Provides supervision and management to the field coordinators.

Minimum Education and Experience

• Master of Social Work Degree.
• A minimum of five (5) years of post-graduate experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Ability to work at a fast pace and to multi-task
• Embraces working collaboratively

Preferred Qualifications

• Licensed Social Worker and experience as a field instructor
• Knowledge of BASW and MSW student field education
• Knowledge of SW curriculum in general
• Familiarity with social service agencies in NJ or elsewhere
• Experience with Canvas, MS Office, database programs
Supervisory experience

Equipment Utilized

• Experience with Canvas, MS Office, database programs.
• Ability to adapt to new/changing technology necessary to support the program.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
