Position Description


Advertised Job Summary
Performs planning or managerial duties and supervises Skilled Trades workers performing repairs, maintenance or construction. Assists department director with scheduling and managing the largest repair maintenance or construction activities. Compiles data, prepares
correspondence, reports, summaries and budgets to meet departmental goals. Serves as Assistant Director of Facilities Management & Support Services at USC School of Medicine. Demonstrates commitment to conduct business lawfully and ethically by consistently adhering to compliance policies, procedures and regulations.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma and 9 years of experience in specialized trades area; or in a diversified building or vehicle maintenance, or construction activity. Supervisory experience required.
This position is considered to be essential personnel and may be require to reporting to work during inclement weather, floods, power outages etc., per direction of the supervisor or department chair.
Preferred Qualifications
College or technical school education. Experienced in a diversified building maintenance environment. Universal Refrigerant Recovery Certification and refrigerant usage and tracking experience preferred. Johnson Controls Metasys building controls system experience. Fire Alarm and Sprinkler system experience preferred. Knowledge of State procurement codes, preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Knowledge of safety practices relevant to the area of employment. Ability to comprehend blueprints, plans and specifications. Ability to comprehend and follow instructions. Ability to conduct business lawfully and ethically by consistently adhering to compliance policies,
procedures and regulations.

Directs the activities of trades crews engaged in the maintenance, general repair or construction activities that involve one or more trades such as carpentry, masonry, electricity, plumbing and Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning (HVAC), and Grounds; under general direction of Facilities Director
