The Office of Access, Civil Rights and Community Engagement is seeking to hire an Assistant Director of Education & Strategic Initiatives.
Reporting directly to the Director of Inclusive Excellence Education, the Assistant Director of Education & Strategic Initiatives handles educational and operational needs. This role involves developing and executing educational programs, activities, and experiences that foster access, inclusion, opportunity, and a sense of belonging. Moreover, the Assistant Director contributes to the planning, design, coordination, execution, and facilitation of various university events and programs. These include seminars, campus talks, symposiums, conferences, and leadership workshops tailored for faculty, staff, and students.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and 5 or more years of experience, which may be substituted by equivalent combination of certification, training, education, and/or experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in education, counseling, communications, or related field. Prior teaching experience in a higher education setting.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Exceptional written, digital, and oral communication skills, with a focus on support of marginalized populations.
  • Demonstrated ability to partner with others to guide projects to successful completion while staying within budget.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities, exercising judgment and guiding teams in a complex environment.
  • Excellent management skills with an ability to guide and mentor others while delegating assignments as needed to meet critical deadlines.
  • Ability to translate organizational programs and services into engaging and accessible stories and other content for a variety of audience.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to meeting deadlines.

Create and execute strategies to promote inclusive excellence through educational initiatives and workshops for the University community. Craft diverse learning experiences, classes, and curricula on topics such as bias, microaggressions, allyship, psychological safety, inclusion, and inclusive curriculum development.

Collaborate closely with the Director and senior leadership to ensure educational strategies and curricula are aligned with the University’s strategic plan and objectives.
